School History
Saint Catherine of Genoa School is a Roman Catholic elementary school in the Diocese of Brooklyn. The school was established in 1924
by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur to serve the immigrant population of the East Flatbush-Rugby area of Brooklyn. The school continues to be part of the educational ministry of Saint Catherine of Genoa Parish, although the immigrant population has changed. We proudly serve mainly the Caribbean population.
Presently, the co-administrators are Mrs. Patricia Maio and Mrs. Kathleen Trainor. Mrs. Maio has been on staff for thirty-four years and an administrator for twenty of those years. Mrs. Trainor has been on staff for ten years, six as administrator. Reverend Gerald Dumont has been the pastor for twenty-one years. As with the administration, many of our staff have been at SCG for ten or more years.
